It’s time for the Corpse flower to bloom -an event happening only once every three to five years -and when the flower’s magenta petals begin immersing, this odd smell also fills the air. Strangely enough, the rare smell draws thousands of Costa Mesa residents in to catch the flower as it blooms.
The college opened the doors for spectators to view the blooming of the Corpse flower , nicknamed Little Dougie, on June 28. The flower has been at the campus since 2006, now weighing 30 pounds and standing more than 5 foot high.
